Glycerine is used to fill the head of pressure gauges. It reduces pointer pulsation and increases the life of a gauge. Suitable for temperatures warmer than -20 °C and cooler than 70 °C.
The liquid fill dampens vibration, mechanical shock, and pressure pulsations or pointer flutter, enabling easier pressure readings. The liquid fill eliminates corrosion, moisture penetration and icing due to the ambient atmosphere. The liquid fill lubricates the moving components which greatly reduces wear of the movement.
It is possible to liquid fill compatible gauges in the 'field' but care must be taken that you chose the right model. Teltherm models 3100, 3063, 3025 and 3150 can be liquid filled.
Please note liquid filling can alter the calibration of gauges especially in the lower ranges (e.g. < 400 kPa). To ensure accuracy ask for liquid fill at the time of order.
Ambient operating temperature for pressure gauges:
-40 °C to +70 °C (dry)
-20 °C to +70 °C (glycerine filled)
-40 °C to +70 °C (silicone filled)
